The Sims

The Sims is a series of life simulation games produced by Maxis, a division of EA Games. The mainline games have no real goal, and were created to emulate a sort of dollhouse feel where you design and control a guy and watch them live their life!
These games are very special to me, they were an interest shared with my mom growing up, and nowadays are a huge source of inspiration for my own game dev endeavors. I've always been very fascinated by the concept of emergent storylines; the pieces of plot a player puts together based on the random little things that happen to them in a game. I think of it like the text between the lines of a book; where prose is powerful because of its lack of visuals, the video game medium is so powerful because of the random, unique stories it creates for everyone.
So, for me the joy of Sims is simply seeing what my Sims get up to, rather than controlling them myself. But still, I get bored without a goal, so I usually end up playing some sort of Legacy Challenge. Which, is exactly what I made this shrine to showcase!
